[Typhoon News] The tropical depression approached the Hong Kong Observatory

The Observatory issued the No. 1 alert signal today (11th) afternoon, which is the first tropical cyclone warning signal in Hong Kong this year. 

The Observatory pointed out that a tropical depression in the middle of the South China Sea moved west-northwest, approached Hong Kong at about midnight, and passed about 500 kilometers southwest of Hong Kong. It is expected to make landfall in Hainan on Saturday. The Observatory also predicts that there will still be showers on Saturday, until the sky will turn clear early next week.

The Observatory urged citizens to take shelter in a safe place as soon as possible.

The observatory issued a yellow rainstorm warning signal.

According to the Observatory, the tropical depression will be the closest to Hong Kong around midnight tonight, passing about 500 kilometers south-southwest of Hong Kong.

 The associated squally showers are affecting Hong Kong, with swells on the sea, and strong winds in offshore waters and highlands. . According to the current forecast path, the tropical depression will land on Hainan Island tomorrow morning. The alert signal No. 1 will be maintained tonight.

According to the Observatory, the tropical depression will approach Hong Kong in the evening tonight, passing about 500 kilometers southwest of Hong Kong. 

There will be strong winds in the offshore waters and highlands of Hong Kong tonight, with occasional squally showers and swells on the sea. According to the current forecast path, the tropical depression will land on Hainan Island tomorrow morning. The alert signal No. 1 will be maintained tonight.

The Observatory issued the alert signal No. 1 at 4:15 pm. Indicates that there is a tropical cyclone within about 800 kilometers of Hong Kong, which may affect Hong Kong. The Observatory urges members of the public to consider changes in weather when planning activities and be aware that there may be strong winds in offshore waters.

The Tropical depression Observatory predicts that Hong Kong will be generally cloudy tonight and tomorrow, with squally showers and thunderstorms. The temperature tomorrow will be between 27 and 30 degrees. 

The east-southeast winds are fresh, and strong winds blow in offshore waters and highlands tonight. There are swells on the sea. Looking ahead, there will still be showers on Sunday, and there will be fewer showers in the early to mid-term next week.
